I used to do this back in my early 20's the old fashion way. Then on pinterest i read about hot process method using a crock pot. Well i gave it a try saturday. Wow, it seemed to have worked. Cutting the bars this morning, they will cure for a couple weeks then i can use it. It's amazing the information out there. I made up a 3 lb batch myself, that amount filled the soap boxes i made 3 1/2 x15". This morning i will hit the grocery store for additional fats to make a couple more batches. I used 1/3 olive oil, 1/3 canola or rape seed oil, then veg shorting and coconut oil for the solid fats. I added oat flour, honey and lavender leaves ( from garden, dried in oven then ground in coffee mill) just before spooning into mold. No scent. I am excited about the possibilities, today, ground almonds , and cinnamon , maybe more honey. Hopefully i will also get to the art projects for mary's show this weekend on traver, ann arbor.
