I have had personal art and furniture in storage and making due with a few pieces.. Time to actually move in although still much to do at 610. Found 2 doors recently for interior studio and back exterior. Now to build frames ,hang them and trim them out. Looking forward to hang art, sorting and deciding what to put where. It's coming together nicely.
My Great grandmother was all about making due, using what was available. I remember miniature doll furniture using jewelry box with snap closures for stove top burners. And match box beds. My Mother carries on the tradition. She wall papered our bedroom walls, sewed curtains with pretty sheets. She replaced kitchen counter tops with re used bowling ball lane wood for a butcher block look. Plain and simple it's in my blood. I saved some paint cans. They are plastic now. Here's one for kitchen compost with a thrift store lid. Actually it's from my pots and pans, many pf those are thrift store buys. I am using the paint pails for small buckets, nice handles. And in the garden too.
Washer/ dryer closet made from 3 hollow core doors. I still have to come up with some way to cover door knob hole. I laced the opening with old painted boards. When i paint the bathroom i will sand back the new paint to show the old paint texture. Curtains are a find from Value Village. I shortened loops along top edge and hemmed them. Inside the cupboard are 2 12" wide shelves made from hollow core by-fold. I shortened hollow core doors to required size i needed which gave me the idea to use hollow core doors altered as painting canvas. Soon, soon i'll get back to painting.
12" was wide enough, same old plank board as counter top. Worked out beautifuly. Hinged top and cut leg from same board. Next to paint it. Folded extension down. Cut eding and grain runs opposite to top. Smiling
