My goal is to support my new home through art events at 610. How i achieve this will be a work in progress. Some ideas are to have classes and workshops. Also hold sales of M Shaw Folk Art with a salvaged / reclaimed theme. Much of my message to the world is about seeing beauty in the ordinary things around us, using things that already exist in different creative ways. Much of my new home was fashioned with these ideas in mind. I think maybe I can offer consulting design for others who have stuff and want to make do too. Many ideas are percolating.
Classes/Workshops: thinking out loud, having a running program of projects using found and reclaimed materials i myself am interested in and currently working with. These would be sessions where we share ideas and work together. I would lead the way but folk would contribute their own materials and creative approaches. There are many areas I am interested in exploring that we could explore together. Fees are yet to be determine. The difference between a class and workshop is that a workshop would require a longer time frame, might be messier. I'm inclined to begin a Holiday gift series of classes where what we make can be given for gifts. These would be on a regular basis, a week day evening. An on going program. The project announced ahead of time from my web site and blog, materials to bring, fees etc.
I plan to also hold a week day art evening that is simply an environment to gather to make art. I, myself will be painting. i will not be teaching. There will be a fee.
A workshop would most likely be on a Saturday afternoon.
I believe I have to begin and what will be will be. Art has always been a big piece of my life. I am blessed to have a place to continue and to share the passion of "making do". I ask that you help me by sharing my web site , blog and art.
My intention for 610 is a safe peace filled place to make and focus on aRt. You are welcome if you will leave your troubles at home and risk a mindful supportive practice focusing on the creative process and possibilities. PS I am a fairly private person, please be respectful of my home and neighbors property. Over flow parking will be on side streets. Just sayin...
